Last trip had some minor tides and winds to contend with, I didn't require the skeg.

vs 5.5 mph on GPS), I can do a 360 degree turn in about 6 strokes (working on getting this down by more consistent edging).

I find it easy to paddle, I managed to slightly exceed the top speed I could achieve in a Looksha IV (5.9 mph. I only paddled the first owned boat an hour before I gave up trying to go straight. The boat I originally rented and used in a class also was dry after use, so there's two Zephyr 16's that sealed well with WS hatches. All three compartments were dust-dry at the end of the day. Last trip I did a lot of practice, meaning the boat was capsized a lot and had some water in the cockpit all day. Had a minor leakage at skeg, fixed with a little silicone. Both have WS hatches on the bow and day hatches, and Kajaksport hatch on the rear oval. The second one was made December '08, received in January. My first one was made in June '08, bought Nov. WS replaced it very quickly with very little hassle, via the dealer. My first one was defective (twist from not cooling properly out of the mold, I suspect). I am pretty much a beginner kayaker, I liked it because I fit well in it, and I felt I could advance my skills in the boat.
